Customs:The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under Section 3 read with Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, and in accordance with paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, has introduced new restrictions on the import of certain goods from Bangladesh.(02.07.2025)

Customs:

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under Section 3 read with Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, and in accordance with paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, has introduced new restrictions on the import of certain goods from Bangladesh. Through this notification, a new sub-paragraph (2) has been inserted under Para 19(1) of the General Notes Regarding Import Policy of ITC (HS), 2022 – Schedule I, whereby imports of specified items under HS Codes 530130, 530310, 530390, 530610, 530710, 530720, 530919, 530929, and 530010 are prohibited through land ports on the India–Bangladesh border. However, import of these goods shall be allowed exclusively through the Nhava Sheva Seaport. These changes are effective immediately and are in continuation of DGFT Notification No. 07/2025-26 dated 17.05.2025.

It is further clarified that the above restrictions shall not apply to goods exported from Bangladesh to Nepal or Bhutan transiting through Indian territory. However, re-export of such goods from Nepal or Bhutan into India shall not be permitted. In light of the above, all concerned officers are requested to take necessary steps to ensure compliance and dissemination of this information within their jurisdictions. Any difficulties faced in implementing the above instructions may be brought to the notice of the Board for necessary clarification or resolution.
