CBIC has issued Circular introducing a new facility for ease of Customs duty payment through a Payment Aggregator on the ICEGATE e‑Payment platform.

The new mode enables importers to pay Customs duty using credit cards, debit cards and UPI for the first time, in addition to accessing internet banking through 41 banks via the aggregator route an enhancement from the earlier 23 directly‑integrated banks.  This option complements existing modes such as Internet Banking (authorised bank route) and NEFT/RTGS and continues to route all payments through the Electronic Cash Ledger (ECL). Any commission charged by banks for deposits made through this mode will be borne by the depositor.

Currently, ICICI Bank, Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), SBI, and HDFC Bank have been onboarded as Payment Aggregators, with more banks to follow after required testing. Corresponding legal amendments have been implemented via Notification No. 30/2026 dated 24 March 2026, and a user manual has been made available on ICEGATE for stakeholder guidance.
