The Government of India has imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of Aluminium Foil up to 80 microns originating in or exported from China PR, following final findings by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR). The investigation concluded that the goods were being dumped in India at unfair prices, causing material injury to the domestic industry.
This duty applies to specified tariff items under Heading 7607 and 7606, covering various grades of aluminium foil. The amount of duty varies depending on the exporter, with rates ranging from USD 479/MT to USD 721/MT. Certain specific product types (e.g. ultra-light gauge foil, capacitor foil, adhesive tapes, etc.) are excluded from the duty.
The anti-dumping duty is effective for five years from the date of provisional imposition (i.e. 17th March 2025) and is payable in Indian currency. The applicable exchange rate will be as per the rate notified under Section 14 of the Customs Act, 1962, on the date of bill of entry filing.
