Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued the notification to update the export policy for Halal-certified meat and meat products. Effective from October 16, 2024, the new rules require these products to be processed, produced, or packaged in facilities certified under the India Conformity Assessment Scheme (I-CAS) by the Quality Council of India (QCI). Exporters must also provide valid Halal certificates accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB).
These rules apply to exports to 15 countries, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Malaysia, among others. Additionally, exporters must comply with the Halal certification regulations of the importing countries if applicable. Notably, the export conditions for non-Halal meat products remain unchanged.
